It was a picture perfect day on August 9, checking mares, babies, and the "retirees". We came across a herd of elk in Priest Valley that was absolutely breathtaking. Rodney was visiting from Mississippi and he had never seen anything like it. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Hi Everyone,

Spring has definitely sprung, mares are in heat and babies are starting to hit the ground. We had a very nice surprise with a beautiful baby colt by Jonsey, my stallion that died tragically last year. We bred 3 mares about 3 or 4 times each, and they did not take. We randomly decided to breed Sami Jo's older maiden mare, covered her 1 time, about 2 weeks before Jonsey died. She came back in, and since the other mares did not take, we assumed Maria was open as well. Well, she fooled us all! Sami has been away at school and left Maria home. Her parents hauled Maria to meet Sami on her way to the Pomona rodeo. Sami took one look at Maria and had a gut feeling she was bred. She called every vet between Coalinga and Pomona, and got her in to a clinic in Bakersfield. Sure enough, Maria was in foal to Jonsey! Sami tied goats off her Friday and Saturday, brought her home, and she foaled a beautiful stud colt the following Tuesday, March 18. We named him "Pepsi Jones" and he is a spitting image of his mom. This is our miracle baby! Indio also foaled after carrying 3 weeks over. She had a gorgeous, GIGANTIC, breeding stock filly on Easter Sunday. Sami has a daughter of Son O Sugar due any day now, and the rest of the mares start to foal in May. I'll ad pictures as they come.

Cheers,

Grace
